Kargo MKT is one of the most exciting food halls near Manchester, sitting pride of place on the Salford Quays waterfront with street food traders, bars and views across MediaCity. There’s a fully-stocked bar, free WiFi and epic happy hour deals, alongside plenty of fun for the little ones. There’s even a sandpit where they can play!
As for the food, this really is a whistlestop tour of the globe. Prepare to tuck into everything from Palestinian Maqluba and Korean fried chicken to Mexican tacos and Greek gyros. For us? It’s the rose tteokbokki at Bab K – cheesy and creamy with that unmistakeable kick of gochujang. You won’t regret it!

If you’re big on craft beer, Society is the food hall for you. You’ll find it slap bang in central Manchester, enjoying a scenic spot right across from the Bridgewater Hall. Vocation man the taps, keeping you watered all day and night. As for those taps, there’s 40 keg and four casks to choose from – that’s the most draught beer anywhere in the city.
But let’s talk food. There are burgers from Slap & Pickle, Korean fried chicken from Yoki Social Table, contemporary Asian from Manzoku and some of Manchester’s best pizza from Noi Quattro. Throw in a stunning outdoor sun terrace, late opening times and DJs on the weekend, and there are plenty of reasons to visit.

Hello Oriental
Hello Oriental is one of Manchester’s most unique food halls, dedicated entirely to Asian cuisine. Visit their Circle Square home and you’ll find three floors of street food heaven, bars stocking Asian beers and cocktails, and even a supermarket. With a second venue now open inside The Trafford Centre, you can get your fix in two different locations.
Their gigantic menu covers everything from delicate dim sum and super-fresh sushi to noodles every which way. There’s over 100 dishes to choose from, so prepare to put your decisive head on! House of Social
One of Manchester’s newest food halls, House of Social is a striking split-level space tucked beneath a modern student living complex near First Street. Inside, you’ll find a stylish communal dining hall surrounded by five resident kitchens – many of them exclusive names you won’t find anywhere else in the city – and it’s quickly become one of Manchester’s most talked-about foodie destinations.
The lineup is seriously strong. There’s pizza from Dough Religion, Indian dishes from Curry Mile legends Mughli, and the first Northern outpost of cult London burger brand Burger & Beyond. Add in a taqueria and an exciting Hong Kong comfort food concept, and you’ve got a globe-spanning menu that’s perfect for groups who can’t decide what they fancy.

The Arndale Market has been one of Manchester’s best food halls for years, serving some of the city’s most-loved street food since as far back as 2006. Today it’s still a top destination for grab-and-go food, and you can also shop for essentials while you’re here – from fruit and veg to phone chargers, everything you need is right under one roof.
Dig into spicy salads from Viet Shack, Chinese favourites from Wings Dai Pai Dong or reliably good Greek food from Zorbas. Their falafel wraps have seen us through many a work day. Mackie Mayor is one of Manchester’s most popular food halls, situated inside the stunning grade II-listed former Smithfield Market Hall in the Northern Quarter. Step inside and you’ll find soaring ceilings, exposed brick walls and a huge glass roof that floods the space with natural light. Take a seat at one of the communal tables either on the ground floor, mezzanine or outdoor terrace.
Grab a drink from the bar or a freshly-brewed coffee from Eagle Street, then take your pick from a host of indie kitchens. With Mumma’s fried chicken, Pico’s tacos and Chilli B’s fragrant Thai food all up for grabs, there are no bad options. We’re heading straight to Taiko for mouth-numbing ramen and a side of smashed cucumber, bliss.

Just outside of the city, Altrincham Market is one of the most famous food halls near the city and helped spark the market town’s food-led revival when it reopened back in 2014. Over a decade later, the stunning Grade II-listed market and food hall is thriving, welcoming thousands of guests through its doors each and every week.
You’ll find a host of delicious food traders both inside and outside, serving up everything from succulent steak sarnies and hearty pies to breakfast butties and wood-fired pizza. Be sure to check out the outdoor market too – swing by on Sundays for their epic vintage market and you could land yourself a proper bargain.

Another exciting new addition to the Greater Manchester food hall scene, Tangerine is easily one of the most visually striking spots around. You’ll find it beneath the railway arches opposite Salford Central, where a once-derelict space has been transformed into a lively maze of drinking and dining. Spread across two distinct ‘platforms’, the venue is designed to take you from relaxed daytime bites through to lively evening sessions.
Stop by during the day and you can pair freshly brewed coffee from Clement with warm loaves and pastries from Ukrainian family bakery Vanda, while four kitchens serve up globally inspired street food ranging from pizza to seriously good burgers. Later on, head to the Grand Departures bar, where 40 taps pour craft beers and cocktails are shaken to order — the kind of place where one drink easily turns into several.

Freight Island is one of Manchester’s biggest food hall experiences, combining street food kitchens, bars and entertainment at Depot Mayfield. New Century Kitchen is a gorgeous Manchester food hall inside the legendary New Century Hall, bringing together street food vendors from all over the world. Open morning ‘til late, it’s a modern and welcoming space that’s family-friendly and dog-friendly. Grab a seat inside or out, order a pint from the bar and get ready to eat good.
Dig into pizza and gyros from PLY, pick up a loaded Vietnamese sandwich from Banh Vi or order a sushi platter from Koi Fusion – all great options. The Produce Hall
Stockport’s historic Produce Hall is one of the most traditional food halls in Greater Manchester, mixing global street food kitchens with a relaxed market atmosphere. It has housed traders selling meat, fish and cheeses for over a century, and today hosts five resident kitchens, alongside plenty of space to sit, chat and relax with friends.
The kitchens wrap around the space, cooking up everything from traditional Cambodian cuisine to handmade gyoza and Greek gyros.
