Expect their signature buttermilk fried chicken done right, packed with flavour and served fast enough for a work break. Swap your sad salad for a poke bowl and enjoy a healthy lunch that’s infinitely more interesting – and way more delicious. All the bowls at Honi Poke are gluten free and made fresh to order, giving you the chance to fully customise it to your cravings. That said, the salmon is always a great choice.

For chillier days, tuck into their warm poke bowls that deliver a bit of Hawaiian heat. The chicken katsu curry bowl is a great blend of creamy sauce and crunchy vegetable slaw! While there’s the option to sit down and eat, we think they taste better people-watching in nearby St Anne’s Square.

Best for: A lighter lunch that still fills you up.
Where?: Honi Poke, 1 St Ann Street, Manchester, M2 7LR.
How much?: Poke bowls start from £9.95 for vegan or £11.95 for salmon.

This one’s for when you’re properly hungry. Jimmy’s Killer Prawns serves big, messy seafood boils packed with mussels, calamari, crab, corn on the cob, potatoes and eggs, all bubbling away in their signature spicy sauce.

Go classic, or level up with lobster tails if you’re feeling spendy — just don’t plan anything too intense afterwards. A food coma is very much on the cards.

Best for: Long lunches and seriously big appetites.
Where: Jimmy’s Killer Prawns, 13-25 Liverpool Road, Manchester, M3 4NW.
How much: Seafood boils from £42.95 (other mains from £10.50).

Our favourites are the beef and onion – great if you’re also tucking into the stewed beef street noodles.
