The team behind Bunny Jackson’s has given Bunny’s Country Club a new look, a new name and a menu packed with seafood.
If anyone knows how to make a bar with a distinct character, it’s the team behind Bunny Jackson’s. Their latest venture, Lakeside Liquor, has taken over the former Bunny’s Country Club venue, bringing lobster rolls, colourful cocktails and 80s tunes to the Northern Quarter.

The new concept centres around the idea of an American lakeside getaway – think striped deckchairs, retro coolers and wooden cabin-style seating. Behind the bar, stained-glass lamps hang beneath a huge sign, while fish and other oddities fill the shelves. On the TVs, it’s all American sports and big bass fishing.
Lobster rolls are the big draw on the food menu, with two versions served daily until they sell out. We went for the hot Connecticut-style roll – a generous helping of juicy lobster drenched in chive butter, served in a soft, sweet brioche. It came with an absolutely huge portion of waffle fries, so be sure to arrive hungry. We also tried the Cajun shrimp, which was every bit as generous – even though we ordered a small.

If seafood isn’t your thing, there are burgers, Caesars and chicken tenders, but it’s the drinks menu that really goes all out. You can sip your way through everything from creative shooters and beer-and-shot combinations to iced teas and fruit coolers. Order a cooler to share and it’ll even arrive in one of those little retro ice boxes (no stealing). Our mango habanero margarita also lived up to our high expectations for a spicy marg.
There’s plenty to do once you’ve finished eating too, with pool, darts, arcade games and karaoke spread across two floors. And here’s the best bit – the karaoke is free.
