Heaton Park even has its own woodland adventure park – Zip World. Suspended 18 metres above ground, this exhilarating obstacle course will put any fear of heights to the test, as you climb, jump and swing through the treetops.

The Full Trek will see you tackle 20 different obstacles and fly along 14 zip lines. If you’re nervous and you’d prefer to bounce around, the Treetops Nets experience is just as fun, seeing you spring around on netted areas, kick inflatable balls and whizz down slides.

Sitting pretty in the leafy outskirts of Altrincham, Dunham Massey is one of the most picturesque National Trust sites in Manchester. With a Grade-I listed hall at its heart, it’s undeniably romantic, and perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll, hand in hand.

Our favourite bit is the 300-acre deer park. Wander tree-lined paths, historic bridges and serene waterways as the resident fallow deer roam around you. There’s plenty more wildlife to spot too, like owls, bats, buzzards and woodpeckers. You can even take the pooch, as long as you keep them on a lead.
