Whether you’re a pool shark or a table tennis titan, you can flex your skills all night long at these gaming bars in Manchester.

Long gone are the days when pub games meant sticking 50p on the pool table and launching darts in a smoky room. These days, you’ll find games aplenty in Manchester’s bars, taking you from high-tech shuffleboard and 10-pin bowling to crazy golf, baseball and even shooting. Here’s our pick of Manchester’s best gaming bars.

Roxy Ball Room

One of the OG gaming bars, Roxy has two venues in Manchester – one on Deansgate and one in the Arndale. Visit either venue and you’ll find a plethora of competitive games, taking you from American pool to ice-free curling. At Deansgate, you can even play a round of crazy golf.

With a well-stocked bar at each venue, you can stay watered throughout your visit. Beer, cocktails, spirits, shots, they’re all here and then some. As for the food, expect American-style fare like pizzas, hot dogs and wings – perfect picky bits to snack on between frames.

Lane 7

Whether you’re looking to bowl over your date or reign supreme at beer pong, Lane 7’s neon-splattered gaming paradise has you covered. Alongside 11 full-length bowling lanes, there’s pool, ping pong, shuffleboard, darts, shooting and much more.

Fat Hippo man the kitchen, so you know it’s going to be a messy one. Larger-than-life burgers come loaded with everything from braised pork ribs and hot honey to buffalo and blue cheese. Wash it down with a crispy pint or a classic cocktail and it’s basically a grown-up happy meal.

If you’re into your arcade games, NQ64 is the place for you. Both of the gaming bar’s Manchester venues are decorated with neon and UV, accompanied by a cool hip-hop soundtrack and packed with retro arcade machines and consoles. Street Fighter, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero – the list goes on.

There’s beer, spirits, wines and hard seltzers behind the bar, alongside colourful gaming-themed cocktails like the sweet and sour Mountain Doom. Head to their Northern Quarter site and you can even order pizza from neighbours Crazy Pedros, meaning you’ll never have to leave.

Flight Club

When Flight Club reinvented darts, the nation rejoiced. There’s no need for quick maths, oh no, because social darts has it all covered for you. All you need to do is throw those arrows, taking on a host of mini games like Snakes & Ladders and Killer, and the super-smart computer tots it all up for you.

It’s one of the best-looking bars in Manchester too – expect a vintage fairground decor, soft-lighting and 18 private oches. Order up a sharing platter, packed with everything from pork belly bites to popcorn chicken, and a great big sharing cocktail – the Champion’s Cup comes in a real-life trophy!

Twenty Twenty Two

We don’t have favourites, but Twenty Twenty Two might be the coolest bar on this list. Tucked away in the Northern Quarter, it’s a stripped-back space where gaming reigns supreme. Whether you’re playing or just watching, it’s always a vibe – especially on weekends.

Think you’ve got what it takes to beat the bartender at ping pong? Visit after 8pm on Thursday and try your luck – there’s a free round of drinks up for grabs. As for those drinks, there’s everything from craft beer to cocktails on offer, so grab a bev and settle in for the night.

Picture this – shuffleboard, but sexy. Electric Shuffle is a stunning gaming bar where high-tech shuffling takes centre stage. Step inside and you’ll find a statement art deco-style bar, alongside 15 sleek tables, each with its own private area, big enough for your whole squad.

With push-for-service buttons, you won’t have to take your eyes off the game when you need your next round. And with a fine selection of craft ales, cocktails and wines on offer, you’ll want to keep the rounds coming. The food’s great too, with everything from poke bowls to pizzas on offer.

Junkyard Golf

Another Manchester native, Junkyard Golf’s first-ever site sits proudly on First Street. As the name suggests, it’s all about golf. Take your pick from three 9-hole courses – Bozo, Pablo or Gary – taking on weird and wonderful obstacles, built out of pre-loved items and scrap.

Cocktails come served in those iconic red cups, laden with nostalgic toppings like sprinkles, bubblegum bottles and Fizz Wiz. Visit from Sunday to Thursday and you can get them for just £6 each, alongside £4 pints. Peckish? Dig into pizza and nachos after you’ve totted up your scorecards.

King Pins

One of the newest names in bowling, King Pins is a larger than life gaming bar with two Manchester venues. There’s both 10-pin and duck pin bowling, ice-free curling, shuffleboard and much more. Visit their Arndale venue and there’s even a batting cage where you can hit them for six.

There’s pizza and chicken to tuck into, alongside a menu especially for mini gamers, while drinks range from draught beers and ciders to cocktails, wines and spirits. And just like all great arcades, they sell Tango Ice Blast – make ours a raspberry & cherry fusion.

Sixes

Cricket’s one of the most recent sports to get a high-tech makeover, and Sixes serves up just that. There are three batting nets, each home to a state-of-the art cricket simulator. While the bowler is virtual, the balls are very real, and you’ll step up to the crease to slog them as hard as you can.

All that batting’s thirsty work, so grab a beer or cocktail to sup on between overs. Food comes in the form of pizzas, burgers and tasty sharing plates – the truffle chicken crunch is a must-try. Visit on a Sunday and you can even tuck into a huge roast dinner!

Boom Battle Bar

Boom Battle Bar is a real-life adult playground. Situated in the Printworks, it’s one of the biggest gaming bars in Manchester, home to axe throwing, shuffleboard, darts and beer pong. Each game has its own dedicated area, while there’s loads of space to drink and dance.

It’s a great choice for a social outing, and their bottomless brunch is always a popular affair. With themes changing every six weeks, you can tuck into street food while enjoying free-flow drinks and live DJs. Afterwards, you can jump back on the gaming – beer pong, anyone?

Point Blank

Guns and booze – it might sound like a deadly combo, but it certainly works. Point Blank is the UK’s first simulated shooting range, where you can take aim with real-feel replica guns. From Desert Eagles and Glocks to MP5s and AK-47s, there’s a full arsenal to play with.

You’ll have your own private range for at least an hour, and over 200 scenarios to try your hand at. You can eat and drink throughout, so get a round in – it’d be rude not to get a shooter – and order some food. We recommend the Guinness BBQ chicken wings.
