More seating, new shops and a brand new sports bar – things are looking up for Terminal 3.

A major revamp of Manchester Airport’s Terminal 3 is now underway, and the first parts of the new terminal will be open to passengers in early 2026. The multi-million pound project will see the terminal expanded with more space, shops and dining options, along with state-of-the-art security. Here’s a look at what’s on the way.

The redevelopment will make Terminal 3 bigger, with 40% more seating and a brand-new entrance. Ultra-modern security equipment, alongside fresh food and retail outlets, are all part of the upgrade. Early next year, passengers will be able to enjoy the first phase of the project.

The first opening will be Sporting Chance – a 469-seat sports bar boasting runway views and a huge lineup of televised sporting events. This will be joined by Terracotta, a new Italian-themed restaurant. Both are being delivered by HMSHost UK, part of international airport operator Avolta.

This investment follows the £1.3 billion, decade-long transformation of Terminal 2. Once fully complete later this year, Terminal 2 will become the airport’s main terminal serving more than 70% of passengers and enabling the permanent closure of Terminal 1. This will in turn unlock space for the Terminal 3 expansion.

Manchester Airport’s Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe, said: “Here at Manchester Airport we’re proud to connect the North to the world and we’re always looking at how we can improve the experience we provide to our passengers.

“Our plan is to take advantage of the extra space that will be afforded by the closure of Terminal 1 to really improve the experience for passengers who fly from there.”

The Terminal 2 transformation has already introduced new check-in desks, security halls and a refreshed departure lounge with stores including LEGO®, Rituals and Pandora. There are more exciting openings coming later this year, including the arrival of Chanel and the Great Northern Market.
